【摘要】:Thesepracticesareusefulfordeterminingthemaximumtemperatureatwhichcrystallizationwillforminaglass,andaminimumtemperatureatwhichaglasscanbeheld,forextendedperiodsoftime,withoutcrystalformationandgrowth.1.1Thesepracticescoverproceduresfordeterminingtheliquidustemperature(Note1)ofaglass(Note1)byestablishingtheboundarytemperatureforthefirstcrystallinecompound,whentheglassspecimenisheldataspecifiedtemperaturegradientoveritsentirelengthforaperiodoftimenecessarytoobtainthermalequilibriumbetweenthecrystallineandglassyphases.Note18212;ThesetermsaredefinedinTerminologyC162.1.2Twomethodsareincluded,differinginthetypeofsample,apparatus,procedureforpositioningthesample,andmeasurementoftemperaturegradientinthefurnace.Bothmethodshavecomparableprecision.MethodBispreferredforveryfluidglassesbecauseitminimizesthermalandmechanicalmixingeffects.1.2.1MethodAemploysatrough-typeplatinumcontainer(tray)inwhichfinelyscreenedglassparticlesarefusedintoathinlathconfigurationdefinedbythetrough.1.2.2MethodBemploysaperforatedplatinumtrayonwhichlargerscreenedparticlesarepositionedoneperholeontheplateandarethereforemeltedseparatelyfromeachother.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
