【摘要】:ThisBritishStandardgivesguidancetositeoperators,emergencyplannersandlocalauthoritiesonthelikelyenvironmentalimpactoflarge-scalefiresinvolvingsignificantquantitiesofstoredplastics.Thisincludes:a)stocksofplasticsrawmaterialsstoredpriortoorduringmanufacture;b)stocksoffabricatedarticlesstoredaftermanufacture;c)stocksofarticlesforsale,e.g.inwarehouses;d)stocksofarticlesawaitingrecycling.Theenvironmentalimpactofeffluentsfromincineratorsandpowerstationsisnotincluded.RubbertyresarenotwithinthescopeofthisstandardastheyarethesubjectofseparateguidanceissuedbytheHomeOffice[1].NOTE1Stocksoffinishedplasticsandrubberarticlesatpointofsale(e.g.gardencentres)thatcontainverylargequantitiesofplasticsformafurthercategory.Thiscategoryisdifferentfromthefourcitedin1a)to1d)becauselargenumbersofpeoplecanoftenbeinvolved.Amajorplasticsfireinaconfinedarea,suchasonaship,formsyetanothercategory.NOTE2Whilstrubbersandrubberproductsarenotcoveredinthisstandard,muchoftheguidancemaybeappliedtothemaswellastoplastics.Therearemanysimilaritiesinchemicalcompositionbetweenthermoplasticelastomersandmorerigidthermoplasticsandthefireeffluentsfromthetwofamiliesofproductsaresimilar.MuchoftheguidanceissuedbytheHomeOffice[1]forthestorageofrubbertyresmaybeusedasaexampleofhowtomanagelargestocksofplasticproducts.
