【摘要】:Thedryingrateoforganiccoatingsvarieswithchangesintemperature,airflow,andrelativehumidity.Inparticular,thedryingrateofwaterbornepaintsdependsontheevaporationofwaterandthusismuchmoredependentonrelativehumiditythanaresolventbasedpaintsorpaintsthatare100%solids.Measurementoftherateofdryingofwaterbornepaintsunderambientconditionsinlaboratoriescannotbeadequatelyreplicatedwithoutsomecontrolofthedryingconditions.Atestchamberwillbedescribedthatprovidesameansofcontrollingrelativehumidityaboveambienthumidityandminimizingtheeffectsofairflowvariabilityatambientroomtemperatures.Ifdesired,thetestchamberwithoutwaterinitandwithventswideopencanbeplacedinatemperatureandhumiditycontrolledroomtotestdryspeedatvarioustemperaturesaswellashumiditywhileusingthechambertominimizetheeffectofairflow.Thispracticeisparticularlyusefulfortestingthedryingrateofwaterbornepavementmarking(traffic)paintswherefastdryatelevatedambienthumidityisanimportantfeature.Forwaterbornetrafficpaints,thetestchambercanbeusedtoevaluatedrytono-pick-up(TestMethodD711)andwaterwash-offresistance(PracticesD7377andD7538)atelevatedambienthumidity.1.1SpecificationD3924definesastandardenvironmentof23x00B1;2x00B0;Cand50x00B1;5%relativehumidityandfreefromdraftsfornormalconditioningandtestingofpaint,varnish,lacquer,andrelatedmaterials.Thispracticedescribesatestchamberthatallowsforcontrolofrelativehumidityabovetheambientrelativehumidityandminimizationofairflowforconditioningoftestpanelsatelevatedrelativehumidityandroomtemperatures.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
